Innovation and entrepreneurship are hot topics in New Mexico, but the state’s largest metro area may have a ways to go before they impact overall job creation.

Startups created 1.9 percent of all jobs in and around Albuquerque in 2014, according to data released this month from the U.S. Census Bureau.
