I’ll admit it; I am hooked on bodyweight exercises. I have been working out for 2 decades, rotating through dozens of different workout fads, but one aspect to my workout programs that have always been consistent are the use of bodyweight exercises.

I never really thought about why bodyweight exercises were so important to me until I started marketing my fitness product Strength Stack 52. Now, all the importance aspects of bodyweight exercises have become clear. If you exercise regularly and don’t incorporate bodyweight exercises, here is what you’re missing:

We’ve all done it. You throw your clothes in a bag and head to the airport. Sixteen hours later, you’re in a country where the customs, dress, language and food are very different from home.  As you leave the airport, you stop at an ATM, and within seconds have enough local currency for a taxi and a few meals. All you needed was an ATM card and some money in the bank.

"The trouble with being punctual," so goes the saying, "is that there's no one there to appreciate it."

Yet if you have a meeting with your boss, a coffee date, or a job interview, you know they'll appreciate it. Still, it's easy to fall afoul of the tyranny of the clock: between our endlessly distracted minds and distraction-rich devices, we can fall into a pit clicksand--and soon need to scurry out the door.

For budding startups, accumulating funding is necessary — but difficult. Crowdfunding can be a viable alternative for entrepreneurs. That was one key takeaway for the few hundred part-time and aspiring entrepreneurs gathered at the Entrepreneurs Inspiring Entrepreneurs Expo at the BWI Marriott Monday who caught the “Sourcing the Crowd” panel discussion.

The work to support entrepreneurs continues and it reaches a high point this week as Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) launches today in 140 countries with more than 7.5 million participants involved. Thousands of brand new startups are taking their first step this week, while others are driving their next growth phase.

An anecdote that I enjoy telling on occasion is that of the CEO of a shoe manufacturing company who sent two sales people to Africa. One of them reports back and says that he is returning with bad news, “Sorry boss, they don’t wear shoes.” The other sales person calls with excitement and says: “Boss, they have no shoes!

We suppose this survey of 8,000 workers across the United States, Canada, India, and Europe makes it somewhat official: America is number one! Number one in the percentage of employees who hate their jobs, that is.

Monster.com and market research company GfK conducted the study, which revealed that only 53% of Americans actively enjoy their jobs, and 15% actively dislike them. Canadians, meanwhile, took top prize for having the cheeriest workforce: 64% of Canadians like their jobs, while only 7% hate what they do.

I read an article a while back that did a psychological profiled middle income Americans and wealthy Americans. The goal of the study was to find out the why. Why are some people stuck in the middle class? Why is it that some people are content with mediocrity? The one thing that this study had found is that people with money believed that you do not need money to make money; whereas people in the middle class felt that they had to have the money first to invest, in so being, were continually saving and never felt that they were secure enough to take a risk.

The yellow streetlight makes the shadows darker. Suddenly, a quick figure darts out and grabs a young woman, smothering her scream with one hand as he grabs her purse with the other. A group of people nearby witness the incident.

What do you do? Call 911? Rush to the woman’s aid? Chase down the shadowy character? Surely, you would do something about it.

In late October, the streets of Dublin were jammed with thousands of people who had flown in from all over to attend Web Summit, a showcase of startups and stars from the world of technology. Tesla founder Elon Musk was there to talk electric cars, and AOL’s chief executive, Tim Armstrong, turned up in O’Neill’s, hoisting a glass and listening to Irish music.

Much has been written about the pharmaceutical industry’s R&D-productivity challenge during the past decade: the decline in new-drug approvals has raised discovery and development costs just as companies struggle to find new drugs to replace blockbusters that have lost (or will soon lose) their exclusivity. Yet by one important measure, the output of the pharmaceutical R&D process has accelerated significantly: the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved 39 new drugs in 2012—the highest level in a decade.

On Wednesday, Jawbone introduced the latest version of its Up wristband, a rubber-coated device and associated smartphone software for tracking exercise, sleep patterns, and other activity. The new version, Up 24, features a small but significant upgrade: it can wirelessly sync your activity with an iPhone throughout the day by using the newer, lower-power Bluetooth standard, Bluetooth Low Energy, to transfer data. The existing version of Up only transfers data when a user plugs it into an iPhone or Android smartphone.

You know the drill. You’re unhappy in your current job — or unhappy with no job — and are desperately updating your LinkedIn profile that hasn’t been touched since the last time you were in this situation.

Well, you’re not alone; this sums up the dysfunctional relationship many professionals have with their LinkedIn profiles. While some flock to LinkedIn only when in need and apply to already posted positions, the platform is at its best when maintained regularly and optimized to allow hiring managers to reach out to you.

Last week, the nation’s leading heart organizations released a sweeping new set of guidelines for lowering cholesterol, along with an online calculator meant to help doctors assess risks and treatment options. But, in a major embarrassment to the health groups, the calculator appears to greatly overestimate risk, so much so that it could mistakenly suggest that millions more people are candidates for statin drugs.

Billions of people around the globe are desperately trying to learn English—not simply for self-improvement, but as an economic necessity. It’s easy to take for granted being born in a country where people speak the lingua franca of global business, but for people in emerging economies such as China, Russia, and Brazil, where English is not the official language, good English is a critical tool, which people rightly believe will help them tap into new opportunities at home and abroad.

China leads the world in population, and probably in sheer numbers of entrepreneurs as well, but does it lead the world in innovative dreams? Dreams power innovation, and innovation is key to all of our futures, but who’s dreaming on China’s behalf?  Lately, we’ve heard a lot about President Xi Jinping’s “China Dream,” which, in short form, according to China Daily, is “to build a moderately prosperous society and realize national rejuvenation.”  But this is a sweeping nation-building dream, not the sort of dream that we would expect most Chinese entrepreneurs to be dreaming about.  So, where are those innovation dreams coming from, and what are they like?
