Singer Whitney Houston, who died at 48 following a career marred by drug use, at one time had such an incredible voice that she was chosen to sing at the biggest sporting events in the world.

She sang the National Anthem at Super Bowl XXV in 1991. It remains one of the best performances at the No. 1 television event in the world.
